Minister of Finance for planning, David Bahati has asked members of the public with accounts in Crane Bank not to panic.
Bahati says Crane Bank take over by the Central Bank was done to protect all deposits in the bank and its proved that the central bank is on top of it’s game.
“The depositors will remain safe and the role for the Central bank is to protect the depositor’s savings and Its only the change of management but the rest remains the same,” Bahati said on NBS tv on Thursday night.
The Central bank remains independent and ready to take any action where they see any risk they must come and protect,” said Bahati.
Bank of Uganda on Thursday took over the management of Crane Bank limited and recalled the former executive director Edward Kitimbo Mugwanya from retirement and assigned him to manage the bank on behalf of the governor.
