Come May 12, all roads will lead to Theatre Labonita for the Maama Wange Concert.
The concert, aimed at ‘celebrating all mothers in the country on International Mothers’ Day’ will be graced by several musicians such as Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Stabua Natooro, Carol Nantongo, Chosen Becky, Rebecca Jinjo, Karitas Kario, Swahaba Kasumba among others.
The event, according to Aloysius Matovu Junior, the organizer will start with a red carpet experience and also feature fun- filled comedy and rib cracking jokes from the Bakayimbira Dramactors and Orions Entertainment.
And since Mothers’ Day falls in the holy month of Ramadhan, two shows have been organised to cater for both Muslim and non-Muslim mothers.
“The morning show will cater for mothers who can’t move at night while the evening show will favor the Muslim mothers, as they will join us after breaking their fast,” he said.
Matovu claims that they carefully selected the musicians and comedians to perform at this event so that the entertainment content doesn’t turn off the Muslim mothers or children, and that proceeds from this event will go to a ‘mother-based’ charity.
“We never wanted to call it a charity concert because many people have done that. When you do a fundraising concert even those who have money don’t come. But when you organize a charity from the savings you have made out of a concert, it’s much easier,” he said.
Fees for this event will be at Shs30,000 ordinary, Shs50,000 VIP and Shs20,000 for the children.
