Here is why Chameleone will come as an independent candidate for Kampala Lord Mayor seat

Legendary musician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has answered the most asked question of which political party card he will be carrying during the 2021 elections.

Ever since he revealed his bid for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat, Chameleone has always dodged this question until this week when he bowed to pressure from his supporters who tasked him to come clean about the party he supports.

The singer has told his supporters that he is not political, and that he is not planning to come under a specific party.

“I intend to come on an independent ticket. I do not belong to any political party and I don’t hold any party card” Chameleone stated.

His fans had already started a debate, with some claiming that since Chameleone has been NRM die-hard, he is surely coming in the race with a yellow card, whereas others alleged that he has been too close to Bobi Wine and he might surely came as a people power candidate.

The musician officially launched his first move in the Mayor race during the Community cleaning campaign (Bulungi bwansi) in Kawempe, as he told his fans that since he started his music journey in Kawempe, he still had to go back and seek blessing for the new journey.

“I started my music journey here and you were the first people to support me. Today I begin a new journey and I seek for your blessings like you did with my music journey 20 years ago,” Chameleone said.
