For months now, the Goodlyfe camp has been in preparations to celebrate Mowzey Radio’s legacy in an album launch dubbed ‘Moses The Great Listeners party’ or ‘MTG’.
MTG was slated for Friday, January 25 – fallen star Mowzey’s 34th birthday – at Jose Chameleone’s DNA Lounge, Acacia Avenue.
The MTG Album has many unreleased songs from late Mowzey, including international collaborations with top African Artistes such as Davido, Wizkid among others.
But after months of preparations, including printing of T-shirts and banners on top of publicity, the family of late Radio, through their lawyers, have stopped Goodlyfe management from releasing the said album.
In a notice presented to Goodlyfe management, court has prohibited the general public, all media houses and other music users from playing or using Radio’s music.
“This is to notify the general public, all media houses and platforms that no entity shall release any music belonging to the late Moze Radio without express authorization from the Administrator General,” reads the notice in part.
According to Weasel, the MTG Album was set to be released in a silent disco experience, and proceeds from this party were to be donated to Radio’s foundation in Jinja.
Now sources within Goodlyfe camp have told Watchdog that Radio’s family was silent when Good life management proposed to release MTG Album, but after communications that this party was to be held at DNA Lounge, they backtracked ‘possibly with thought that the ‘Mayanja’s’ want to claim all proceeds from the event.’
“We have been ready for this party, but currently we don’t know if it will happen. No clear communication has been made after the court order and our bosses are telling us that they are soon resolving everything,” sources said.
Radio Mowzey died on 1st February 2018 at Case Hospital after succumbing a blow on the head in an Entebbe based night hangout De Bar, he was a prominent song writer and vocalist and he will forever be celebrated for songs like Neera, Sweet Lady, Nkwagala among others.
