Shafik Walukagga better known by the moniker Fik Fameica still lives in denial.
Famed for Kutama, Mafia, Pistol, Byenyenya and Mutuwulila, Fameica rubbished what he termed as ‘allegations that he is Copy and Paste artiste’.
For starters, Kutama is the exact replica of Thitima by Kenyan gospel duo Kaymo and Stigah while Pistolborrows everything therein from Fester by Lethal Bizzle. One doesn’t even have to listen to ‘Byenyenya’ to realize it was Xeroxed ‘Friendly with Her’ by JHus.
Not so long ago, Fameica was asked by a local TV station why he copies most of his songs and he responded by saying “There is copying that leaves the fans complaining and there is copying that gets them dancing and they don’t care where you copied the song from.”
But following a recent law suit by Chin Bees, Fameica has distanced himself from rumors that he copiedMafia from the Tanzanian’s song dubbed Pepeta.
In his defense – and we do not know whom he is fooling – Fameica claims that Mafia and Pepeta are just identical because of the music track but lyrically they are totally different.
Fameica told NBS’ Douglas Lwanga that he is just a musician who records on the beat that a producer makes, and it’s wrong for people to pin him as a ‘copy and paste’ artiste.
Mafia was produced by Artin Pro of Jahlive Studio released earlier this year.
On November 23, Chin Bees through his law firm of KTA Advocate, issued a letter of intention to sue toward Fik Fameica and his management of Karma Ivein, on grounds of Copyright infringement.
“It has come to our client’s attention that sometime in 2018 you released, performed and widely shared online a song Mafia that has the same musical composition/arrangement as our client’s song Pepeta,” reads the notice.
Fameica was also told to stop performing, promoting and should immediately take down the song ‘Mafia from all social media platforms ahead of his My Journey Concert on December 14 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
So far, Copy and paste has been his journey.
