If there is one thing that will unite Ugandans, it’s probably the love to see one of their own succeed.
Look at how Bebe Cool defeated powerhouses Diamond Platinumz, Sauti Sol to claim the Best Male Artiste, Afrimas, despite calls for a boycott.
That is exactly what is happening with Uganda’s representative at Miss World Quiin Abenakyo, with keyboard warriors calling on all thise with OTT to vote for her.
At the weekend, Miss Uganda 2018 Abenakyo made the final list of 30 contestants, all seeking to be crowned Miss World.
This after defeating Miss Argentina in the head to head challenge.

“I believe they all have dreams and goals to achieve. My objective is to put into action my Beauty with a Purpose project using the opportunity given to me by the Miss Uganda foundation and Miss World Organisation to achievablly bring to the fore front of the world stage causes that promote the sanity of human life especially the girl child,” she said of herproject to fight teenage pregnancies.
One in four adolescent girls ages 14 to 19 either have a child or pregnant. This has led to school dropouts, health complications like fistula, some girls are banished from home leaving them helpless.
According to the latest rankings, Uganda voters are doing a good job, pushing Abenakyo to third, behind Miss Nigeria (29 per cent) and Ms Nepal (41 per cent).
Only Nigeria has a bigger population than Nepal (29million) and Uganda (40 million).

Miss World Beauty Pageant finals will be held on December 8, in Sanya China.
