Musician Mowzey Radio (born Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo) died on Thursday at Case Clinic. He was last week admitted to the hospital after sustaining severe brain injuries following a bar brawl at the Entebbe based De Bar Club.
Radio has been singing under renowned music dynamic duo Gudlyfe with Weasel.
Born 1st January 1985, Radio had a prosperous musical career. He studied at Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School in Jinja, where he served as president of the school’s Youth Alive Club. He composed musical projects for the club that succeeded in inter-school Youth Alive Club competitions.
In 2002, Radio studied at Kiira College Butiki in Jinja where he had a two-year break in his musical career concentrating on his studies. He later joined Jose Chameleone’s Leone Island Crew in 2004. While working as Chameleone’s backing vocalist, Radio released solos on Leone Island Records. These include “Jennifer”, “Dagala”, “Wololo” and “Sweet Lady”.
Following disagreements between Chameleone and the pair, they quit the group and formed Gudlyfe Crew in 2008.
That group was successful. He has been one of the greatest singers Uganda has ever had.
Apart from signing with his counterpart Weasel, Radio has had a number of successful solo music projects like Nkwagala, leesu, neera, maama among others.
Radio has been also a songs writer and he has written a number of songs for several artistes like Irene Ntale.
He was once in a relationship with fellow singer Lilian Mbabazi and they had two kids together.
They later broke up in 2015 for reasons best known to them.
