Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) on Friday, November 2, launched her first Art and Cultural Festival. The two-day festival will open on Saturday at the National Theatre.
According to the Managing Director of UNCC, Francis Peter Ojede, this art and cultural festival is meant to bring together artists to share ideas on art, and create market for art products.
It will be annual.
“During this first edition of the festival, we want to create a one stop Centre for art, with all cultures, art, music and dance evolved,” he said. “I believe that this festival will create a positive effect to all art and cultural lovers especially youths and women because they make a big number in art industry.”
This year’s edition will be celebrated under the theme ‘Employment Creation for Women and Youth in Arts and Culture Industry.’
The UNCC, according to Ojede, is working in partnership with Belgium Embassy.
This launch followed the unveiling of the new renovated wall of UNCC containing photos of past king by Guest of Honor, Peace Mutuuzo, the state Minister for Gender and Culture. She promised to work hand in hand with UNCC towards developing this cultural Centre
The festival will also feature cultural exhibition, dance, films, workshop and music from artists like Sammy Kasule, Jamal, Lily Kadima and other cultural troops and groups.
