City pastor, Martin Ssempa, has called out fellow pastor, Aloysious Bugingo, for the excessive noise from his church. Ssempa expressed his frustration on social media after enduring loud sounds from Bugingo’s church from Friday morning until the early hours of Saturday.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Ssempa wrote, “At exactly 7 AM this morning, the public address system was turned on. It’s now way past midnight, and the noise of loud singing has not abated. It’s Pastor Bugingo Aloysious.”
While Ssempa stated he has no issue with the continuous praising and singing, he questioned the need for the loudspeakers. He raised concerns for university students and neighbors living near the church who might be struggling to concentrate or rest due to the noise.
The situation was worsened by two other churches joining in overnight prayers, along with a nightclub nearby, adding to the noise. “I’ve had to put on noise-cancelling earphones just to get any work done,” Ssempa shared. He expressed concern that, while God is not deaf, the constant barrage of loud sounds could harm people’s hearing.
Pastor Ssempa’s comments highlight a growing issue in Kampala, where noise from churches and nightclubs is becoming a serious problem for residents.
