The primary health care minister, Dr Joyce Moriku expressed concern about the poor health service delivery in Butoro health centre III in Mpigi district.

The level of absenteeism by the senior health workers shocked the minister that she shed a tear. At the health center, patients are generally attended to by nurses, and rarely see any doctor.

Dr. Moriku stormed the health centre and what she found there was too shocking.

“Health centres to operate without senior health workers is quite sad, I will need an explanation and accountability from the health centre administrators,” Dr Moriku said.

When she arrived at the hospital, the delivery room was closed and the midwife had gone with the keys.

Dr Moriku furiously asked, “now what if a woman wants to deliver what can the present nurses do?”

This however is the present state of many government facilities.
