Former Uganda Cranes player, David Obua has turned political by advising the national team to dedicate all their success in the African Cup of Nations tournament to struggling teachers, slain Kenneth Akena and the deadly Masaka road.

Of course we understand that Obua misses being on the national team but is it necessary to engage some political matter to a moment like this one? At least he would have urged them to play for Uganda which is obvious but to play for Akena, really?

In 2015, Obua retired from active football after playing for more than 13 years both on local and international levels.

Obua’s lowest moment with the Cranes is when he walked out on the Cranes prior to the penultimate game against Kenyan national team Harambee Stars in the 2012 AFCON qualifiers in October 2011.

Still, one time he threw a tantrum and a Cranes jersey before storming off the pitch after an unlikely substitution by then Coach Bobby Williamson.
