Buganda Road Court has today Friday ruled that the former DPC of Old Kampala police, Joram Mwesigye has a case to answer on three counts of assault, occasioning and malicious damage to property.
It’s almost two years since Mwesigye beat up journalist Andrew Lwanga and damaged his camera and injured his spine.
Court has dragged on but it seems justice will soon be served.
Now, court says it was convinced by the evidence of the six prosecution witnesses that Joram committed the said crimes on 12 Jan, 2015 when he beat up Lwanga who was on duty.
The boss of the Journalists rights defenders organization, HRNJ-Uganda, Robert Sempala said he welcomed the ruling.
The case was adjourned to 7th Dec, 2016 for defence.
