The China group number 3 Uganda has lost a whooping shs 200billion contract after it was alleged by UNRA that the company was still under investigation.

The company had been contracted to construct two roads; Hima-Katungulu and Moroto.

The company, China railway Group no.3 International, is
under investigation for having registered this company under the name “China railway Group no.3 Uganda” to defraud the government after a whistleblower notified
officials at UNRA who immediately stopped the payment.

China railway group no.3 international is one of the five companies which were ordered by the parliamentary committee on statutory Authorities and State enterprises (COSASE) to refund the money which was meant for compensating the roads projects affected people.

All the four companies had refunded the money apart from this one.

However, on Monday china railway group no.3 international managed to return shs8 billion to UNRA.

According to Anita Amongi, the vice chairperson COSASE, after signing the contract for construction of roads from Kanoni, Sembabule up to Villa Maria, China railway group no.3 international registered another company in names of china railway group no.3 Uganda and made it a separate entity but in real sense it was one company. The company did this to defraud the government.
