A letter dated January 12, 2017, indicates salary enhancement for Chief Justice, deputy chief justice, Head of public service, deputy head of public service and permanent secretaries.

The increased salary for the mention officers was doubled and for some, it was almost tripled regarding to the previous salaries they have been earning per month.

According to Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Service, the salary increment was based on the circular standing instruction No. 2 of 2016 communicated to the service, the salary structure for the Financial year 2016/2017.

In the new salary structure, Chief Justice, Bart Katurebe’s salary was increased from shs 11,560,150 to shs 20 million. His Deputy, Steven Kavuma raised from shs10,532,581 to shs 18 million.

The head of public service was raised from shs 4,952,059 to shs 17.6 million whereas the deputy head of public service was raised from shs4,099,486 tol shs 15.5 million.

Lastly the Permanent Secretary was raised from shs 3,768,835 to shs 15.4 million.

The salary enhancement took effect from 1 January,2017.
