“Just go” became the song of the day as the developers moved out as winners of the 2017 MTNApp challenge.
The event was hosted at the MTN offices, Nyonyi Gardens in Kololo, in Kampala and was organized in collaboration with Outbox, a leading innovation hub in Uganda.
A total of 19 teams managed to participate, of which Team JustGo, were the overall winners of the day. JustGo is a mobile application that intends to solve a problem of queues at bus offices.
The team intends to help users by availing them with their target market of people who travel long distances.
These people shall be able to book buses through both mobile app and USSD code according to the developers.
Godfrey Motsa, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Uganda said that he was excited to see young people come up with various solutions to the problems of their country.
It is on this note that he advised the participants not only to look at how much they are getting but if they get a chance of doing work that would sell them for free, they should go ahead with it.
“Sometimes it is good to start free business, the money contents comes afterwards when people have seen and trusted your work.” Added Motsa.
It is on this note that he thanked all the companies that put in their time and money to see that the event moves on.
“I thank HUAWEI, UCC, MTN and all those who have taken time to make sure that the MTN outbox App moves on,” said Motsa.
