Legal activist Isaac Ssemakadde on Saturday emerged winner of the much-anticipated Presidency of the Uganda Law Society.
The election capped up the heated Uganda Law Society Annual General Meeting at the magnificent Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo.
This could have been one of the much-publicized election for the leader of the Law Society.
Speke Resort Convention Centre was full of life, as it has been since its grand opening early this year. The convention center has hosted grand events in the 2024 calendar year, It has established itself as the place to host meetings worth their name.
Isaac Ssemakade beat Isaac Atukunda to emerge president of the Law society -. The Society elected several other office bearers.
The new president promised to serve with integrity and tackle the issue moral bankruptcy within the judiciary. IN his victory speech he emphasized the collection responsibility of the legal fraternity to promote justice and unity.
“This victory belongs to all of us, each member who believes in the strength of our collective voice.” He said.
The Convention Centre at Munyonyo, has recently hosted the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Global Symposium for Regulators in July 2024, an event that brought together over 900 delegates from around the world, including regulators, industry leaders, and experts in the telecommunications sector.
The Convention Centre, which was commissioned at beginning of 2024 has previously hosted several high-profile events, including the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit, the Group of 77 (G77) Summit, and Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo among other high-level meetings.
