Standard Gauge Railway(SGR) Uganda has launched the construction of Malaba – Kampala railway in Kampala today which is going to ease transportation in uganda.
Diana Apio , head of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs, SGR said that this railway is going to pass through eleven districts at 273 kilometers.
“This Malaba – Kampala railway is going to help entrepreneurs to conduct business in Kenya at very low transportation dues, which is going to help in raising Uganda’s economy.” Apio said.
She further added that they have already got the permission from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the National Forest Authority ( NFA) since this project is also going to pass through forests and wetlands.
however, she feared for the people who invaded the government’s land which was given to SGR to construct the railway that they will not be compensated for the loss of their properties.
