The former Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Basigye was expected in High court at 9:00am today to fulfill part of his bail conditions as ordered by Judge Masalu Musene. Besigye is supposed to report to the registrar of criminal division of high court once every after two weeks.
Unfortunately, he was stopped from going to the high court by the police.
But police denied restricting Besigye’s movements today.
“Our officers didn’t stop but only asked Besigye where he
was going and he decided to return to his house,” said
deputy police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima.
“It was his choice not to go court.”
Besigye was charged with treason after declaring himself president of Uganda in a video which went viral on social media in May this year.
