Ugandan opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has blasted police for beating up his supporters.

Besigye says the behavior of the police towards citizens who pay their salaries was disrespectful.

On Tuesday, police deployed to escort Besigye after his release on bail from Luzira prison, beat up people who had lined up on road to catch a glimpse of the FDC leader as he returned his home in Kasangati.

The video showing police beating up innocent people with metallic whips, has been circulating on the social media.

Besigye is expected to address a press conference at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi after he attends his treason trial in Nakawa.

Police has deployed heavily on the streets, as Besigye comes into the city.
