Akena’s family watch brief lawyer, Julius Ojok has condemned Odonga Otto and Beatrice Anywar for attacking Winnie Byanyima for standing surety for Mathew Kanyamunyu who is accused of murdering Kenneth Akena.
In an interview with The Observer newspaper, The Observer Ojok said everyone regardless of the charges against him/her, is entitled to bail adding that it was wrong to condemn Byanyima for standing surety for her relatives.
“Everybody, regardless of the charges against him/her, is entitled to bail. It was wrong to condemn somebody who sought to stand surety for the accused” Ojok said.
Recently, during Kanayamunyus, Cynthia Munwagari’s bail application hearing at High Court, Otto and Anywar bitterly attacked Byanyima for standing surety for her nephew citing that she was promoting impunity and lawlessness.
By the end of the drama, the angry politicians regretted for having supported her husband, Dr. Kizza Besigye and vowed to vacate Forum for Democratic Change.
