Airtel Uganda has dragged Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) to court over failure to rely the recent concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament 2017 despite soliciting funds from the Telecommunication Company.

According to Kawowo Sports, former MD Paul Kihika, Engineer Nkenza Angello who was the acting MD, Osinde Walter Stephen Rupia now at NBS TV and Peter Kateeba now at NIRA are among the officials implicated in the matter.

The matter has already reached offices of the Criminal Investigations and Crime Intelligence with the officials already summoned to make appearance according to the police Public Relations Officer of Interpol, Peace and Stability and CIID Vincent Ssekate who revealed that the suspects made an agreement with Airtel company to broadcast the recent Africa Cup of Nations this year after agreeing to pay shillings 3.6 billion whose amount was supposed to be paid in 4 installments, with the first installment that was paid was Shs368m, then 350m and then 116m , but didn’t pay the balance after seeing some irregularities.

Ssekate added that the suspects are supposed to appear on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, but three of their colleagues Emmanuel Tumusiime, Edison Asiimwe and Cleophas Kiiza were summoned and released on police bond.
