A few days back we Ugandans were saddened by Airtel’s planned exit from 14 African countries including Uganda over failure by the telecom company to make desirable profits for the past years.
Now the same telecom company has issued a statement informing all its customers that effective Friday 4, February, 2017, all its subscribers will no longer be able to make or receive calls from Uganda Telecom (UTL) due to the termination of Interconnection agreement and interconnection services between the two telecommunication companies.
“Airtel Uganda regrets to inform its customers that effective Friday, 3 February, 2017, our subscribers will not be able to make callas or receive calls from Uganda Telecom Limited(UTL). This is because the interconnection agreement and interconnection services between Airtel Uganda and UTL were terminated,” statement read.
This development comes at a time when the government owned telecommunication company,UTL is under probe due to mismanagement.
