Ailing Mutyana Municipality Member of Parliament Francis Zaake has on Thursday been blocked by security operatives at Entebbe Airport to go to India for further treatment.

The officers claimed that Zaake first needed clearance from police before he travels out the country.

‘A Police officer by the name of Aloka has informed me that we need clearance from police before Hon. Zaake travels to India. Zaake’s condition cannot allow him to go to Police. If he is not cleared, he could easily die” said Asuman Basalirwa, Zaake’s lawyer.

Meanwhile, Government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has revealed that the legislator is a suspect on the run who disappeared from police custody in Arua and that by him flying out of the country, he could be plotting to escape from justice.

“Mityana municipality MP Francis Zaake is a suspect on the run who disappeared from lawful Uganda Police Force custody in Arua and should be arrested at the earliest. He could be trying to escape from justice, ” said Opondo.
