Uganda’s Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has gone into self isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
“Friends, I have gone into self-isolation after some of my contacts tested positive for #COVID19. My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision as a health recommended measure,” the Prime Minister tweeted on Friday, just minutes after the Ministry of Health said 35 more people had tested positive for the virus, pushing the country’s tally of confirmed cases to 557.
It was also revealed that all Ugandan ministers were to undergo a mandatory covid-19 testing at the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday 5 June.
Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng confirmed the development, saying that it was going to be a routine exercise since ministers continue to travel to different parts of the country and meeting people in their course of duty.
“It’s routine testing for members (Ministers) since we are working and meeting different people in the line of duty,” said Dr Aceng.
