Kyambogo University has officially has officially announced a ban on the use of political party/pressure group emblems in the the forthcoming elections for aspiring student’s leaders.
According to the letter by the University’s Dean of Students, five guild presidential aspirants had asked for permission to use their desired political party emblems/symbols but their request was strongly rejected by the University administration.
The Dean explained in the statement that what they were about to hold was University elections for students and not national politics for any national political party to be involved.
“I would like to clarify to all students that Kyambogo University Governance has never permitted politicizing of the Students’ Guild Leadership. The electoral process that is ongoing at Kyambogo University is for student Leaders not for any national political party or pressure group,” the statement reads in part.
“This therefore is to clarify to all students that no student is going to be allowed to use any form of Political party or political pressure group symbol on the ballot papers.”
He Dean advised the guild and GRC candidates that had submitted their photographs with political party signs or colors, to provide other photos immediately before Friday 13, adding that whoever will not have done this by the end of Friday will have left no any other option for the University electoral Commission but to use those from their student’s portal
