As Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women’s Day on 8th February, government and other stakeholders were urged to put more focus on the girl child through education and financial empowerment to reduce ignorance and poverty for future development.
The plea was made by Gilbert Olinga, the National Coordinator of the NRM elite youth famously known as Generation Seven (G7) over the weekend while opening their offices in Iganga Town Council.
Olinga warned men who neglect there families leaving the responsibilities to women which has lead to the poor up bringing of children. He said this is due to lack of parental guidance since the mother is also struggling to look for food for the survival of the children.
He also applauded women for always supporting President Yoweri Museveni and advised them to maintain the love come 2021 elections since he is still strong and visionary to move the country forward.
However, Olinga advised youths to participate in elections peacefully and not to be lured into violence by some unpatriotic politicians.
