The Bishop Emeritus of West Ankole Diocese, the Rt Rev William Magambo has strongly appealed to church of Uganda to consider hiring drivers for the retired Bishops saying that it is tiresome to pay drivers for themselves as they do not have a source of income to pay them.

Bishop Magambo noted that as God’s servant they reach at the time of retirement when they have not even built a retirement house because of school fees yet they receive peanut pension and which takes forever to come, usually around Christmas.

He was preaching to Christians and friends on Sunday who turned up for the thanksgiving of Rev Canon Charles Kapson and his wife Enid Kiconco to mark 40 years in marriage at at Kanyampuumo church of Uganda in Nyabihoko sub county Kajara county Ntungamo district. Canon Kapson also honorably retired from active service.

“To avoid retirement challenges, the Church of Uganda should at least provide funds for the bishops who have clocked the mandatory years of service because even in retirement, they are called to serve in different capacities,” he said.

The Bishop, South Ankole diocese, the Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe challenged Christians to always recognize and reward the great men and women who fought for the church to exist.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe expressed concerned that some people who did great work for the church and country at large have been neglected for their sacrifice.

He thanked Rev Can Charles Kapson and his wife Enid for preaching the word of God in West, South and Ankole Dioceses and East Africa at large and retire without any blemish.

“Service is a sacrifice but not a luxury so serve people regardless of their physical appearance,” he said.

In their words Rev Canon Charles Kapson and Kiconco Enid thanked God for enabling them serve Him and retire in peace and for marking forty years in marriage which is not easy for many families.

Rev Can Kapson hailed his wife Enid, children, relatives and all Christians for the pray and support noting that had not been them they would not have managed it.

The Ntungamo District Woman MP, Hon Beatrice Rwakimaari praised the religious leaders for supplementing the government efforts in bid to eradicate poverty and criminals in the communities.

Hon Rwakimaari asked general public to support each other if the development is to be realized in families.

One child was baptized and over Shs6m was raised for roofing of the church.

Later Rev Can Charles Kapson and his wife Enid treated their guests to a luncheon at their home.
