Although there was no repeat of last year’s feat at Miss World, Uganda’s 2019 representative will return with her head held high.
Oliver Nakakande did not make the Top Five, just like Quiin Abenakyo the year before. She however managed top place in three major challenges at Miss World won by Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh.
The runners up included Ophély Mézino from France and Suman Rao from India.
“Here’s to celebrating the victories Uganda has achieved @missworld this year. Uganda for the Very First time ever managed to place in 3 major challenges at miss World.
1—First time ever in Miss World Top Model Top 10

Am forever Grateful and I’m so glad that Uganda believed in me to represent this year. I love you all.,” Nakakande posted on Monday.
Singh’s win, a fourth for Jamaica means for the first time in history, black women hold the titles for Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss Universe and Miss World.
The 23-year-old student impressed judges at the ExCel London after singing Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing’, to defeat 111 other contestants representing different countries.
