It is sometimes tiring to locate good places where you can get beauty services on hair, nails, makeup, cuts, waxing, scrubbing among other stuff, but have you ever thought of finding all these and much more in one place!
Today I’m sharing with you a one stop beauty centre in Bukoto that you must checkout, it’s called Headmasters Hair and Makeup Studio and it’s located along Bukoto street plot 19, just opposite Asiatic Sports.
This salon is so organised that ladies have their section as well as men, a well-equipped massage room, tattooing section among others, and as you wait to get a particular service, be sure of a glass of water, wine, soda cappuccino or anything you may like ‘on the salon’s bill’.
I admit, if it’s your first time at Headmasters Hair and Makeup Studio, you may even fail to ask how much they charge for a particular service after seeing how classic, the modern equipment used, and the ambiance of the place.
But when you finally get the confidence to ask, you can be shocked by their average prices and even wonder why it took you so long before discovering a place like Headmasters.
The salon offer services like hair treatment, haircut, weaving, facial, body scrubbing, body piercing, tattooing, waxing, nail treatment among others at a relatively fair price, for Africans, Caucasians (hair and body), men and women (hair and body).
Speaking to Isaac Kyeyune, he shared with us their winning formula and reasons why for just seven months in the beauty business, Headmaster salon has managed to outshine many salons around town.
“We blend art in beauty”, Kyeyune said, further explaining that they don’t just cut hair or do nails, but put a lot of art in their services to give customers value for their money.
“Even if it means spending the all day on someone, we can do it provided our client is satisfied with the end results, the salon has many professionals in different fields like hair, nails, tattoo and we always do our best to make the customers contented with the services.”
About the challenges in the beauty business, Kyeyune stated that most of the products they use are imported and the prices are so high.
“The biggest challenge we have is that most of the products we use on our clients are imported from abroad and they are heavily taxed. Even power is also on and off and most the things we use here are run by electricity,” he said.
Out of experience, Kyeyune also advise people who wish to join the salon business not to just open salons because they have money, but they should first know their target clients.
“Every salon can make profits be it an up class or local salon given that you know your target clients. This helps you to know what your target clients will need from your salon, it will help you to choose a perfect location that will make your clients comfortable, determining the quality of products to use, among other stuff,” he said.
About Isaac Kyeyune:
He has been in the hair and beauty field for the past 18-19 years thus making him a professional in the field.
“I started this job when I was still in secondary school, by that time I used to cut my fellows’ hair while at school. At that time I dint not think that this business will fully employ me but here I am,” Kyeyune said.
Kyeyune is a graduate in Industrial Art, but he did not practice his profession for long after finding out that it wasn’t paying off well, yet he had reached a point when he needed a lot of money.
“I had my first child when I was in my senior six vacation, so it reached a time when I needed a lot of money because my responsibilities were too much but the Art business wasn’t that paying, this is when I went back to the hair business,” he recalls.
He decided to go back to school and pursued a Beauty Course at Principle School of Beauty in 2003, and in 2004, he professionally joined the beauty business.
After school, Kyeyune started working with his friends in small salon called Fyna image Bukoto, around 2006-2008, the then joined Hairsay Lubowa were he worked for one and a half year, before joining 5enses salon and spa in 2012.
He then took a break from the hair business after a few years of working with 5enses salon, till this year when he teamed up with friends to start up Headmasters Hair and Makeup Studio.
