“It’s been one of those years full of ups and downs, surprise s, late nights and the big deals. So let’s take time to thank and appreciate the people that walked with us. Our families, bosses, clients, colleagues, employees, and friends on the 23rd of November at Kampala Serena hotel for the elegant ‘Nsiimye’ thanks giving dinner,” the organizers note.
This kind of celebration has not been much considered in Uganda, but some countries like United States of America (USA), Canada, Netherlands among others, acknowledge this day so much and consider it as a day to give thanks and sacrifice for blessing of the harvest from the preceding year.
However, dates of thanks giving celebration differ from country to country, as USA celebrate it on the last Thursday of November, and in Canada this day falls on the second Monday of October.
According to Aljazeera.com, Abraham Lincoln was the first US President to officially declare the festival as the last Thursday in November and the date was set in stone by President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1939 and approved by Congress in 1941.
