Wakiso Giants FC dropped the services of coach Kefa Kisala just after11 league games blaming his termination to poor results in the Star times Uganda Premier League.
The newly promoted side sit 10th on the table with 13 points from 11 league games, winning four, drawing one and losing six.
However, the tactician blamed these results on veteran players who he called unambitious.
“I rather work with developing players because they can push themselves higher hoping for opportunities like national team callups, playing for more professional clubs outside the country and developing their career which is not the case with ageing players who have seen it all now thinking about retirement,” a disappointed Kefa told Watchdog Uganda.
Kefa, who feels was betrayed by his former playing squad, says Ugandan coaches need technical independence in order to deliver to their bosses’ expectations rather than imposing player on them who are chasing parallel dreams.
He is now eying a team that will allow him develop new talents instead of rushing for what he called pre-mature temporary wins otherwise he will remain a spectator for the beautiful game of football.
The former footballer managed Iganga Municipal Council FC, Water FC, Bull FC, URA FC, Express FC and of recently Wakiso Giants FC.
Since his departure, the club’s performance has improved under the management of a former SC Villa skipper Stephen Bengo, securing six points in three games. They defeated Busoga UTD and Kyetume FC 2-1 and 0-3 respectively after losing 1-0 to Vipers away in St Mary’s Stadium. The results propelled the club to fifth in the league with 19 points.
