Entebbe High Court has on Thursday, October 31 sentenced Troy Wamala, the main suspect in singer Moses Sekibogo aka Mozey Radio’s murder to 13 years in prison.
A few days back, Lady Justice Jane Abodo convicted Troy of manslaughter, after prosecution failed to produce convincing evidence that he had a motive to kill.
In her ruling on Thursday, Abodo first sentenced Wamala to 14 years but deducted the one year and eight months that he has spent in prison ever since he got arrested in 2018.
“I have considered the fact that the convict is a first offender, relatively young man capable of reforming but let temper get a better part of him and ended the life of a talented and youthful musician which was a horrible thing. I therefore sentence the convict to a term of 13 years, three months and four days,” she ruled.
Troy committed the said crime on January 22, 2018 at Dar Bar, the Entebbe based night hangout, which further led to the death of the singer on February, 1 2018, at Case Hospital Kampala.
During the trial, the main witness in this case, music producer and friend of the late singer, David Ebanget Etoru aka Washington told court that Troy grabbed Radio and threw him on the ground, which led to his death.
“Radio got a battle of whisky and poured it in all the glasses on the table. He was at first happy but after he became angry. He lifted up the table and all glasses fell down. Troy came from the back shouting, grabbed the deceased and threw him down,” Washington told court during a previous sitting.
After Troy committed this crime, he took off and hid in Kyengera until February 4, 2018 when he handed himself to police when Radio had died.
