Standup comedian MC Kapale claims that Maureen Nantume’s poor English did not only cost her, but greatly affected fellow comedian Charles Kasozi aka MC Mariachi.
Over the weekend, reports on social media noted that Nantume and Mariachi were deported from United States of America (USA) because they lacked working permits.
Nantume and Mariachi were due to perform at a show in Boston that was organised by Juliet Zawedde, a USA based Ugandan event promoter but they were stopped at Logan Airport and then deported.
Sources said that the two were told to say that they are visiting a friend to attend a birthday party.
Mariachi managed to convince the immigration offices but when it came to Nantume, the singer allegedly failed to express herself in English and to make matters worse, she told immigrations officers that she had travelled with Mariachi.
And following that incident, both performers are now prohibited from entering USA for a period of 10 years.
Now Kapale is blaming Nantume’s poor English for killing Mariachi’s chances of performing in USA for almost a decade.
During an interview with a local media channel, Kapale also stated that there is only one word ‘Thank you’ in Nantume’s English vocabulary and there is no way she could have expressed herself in English.
“It’s absurd that Mariachi and Maureen Nantume were deported but I believe that was God’s plan. The problem came when Nantume revealed that she had travelled with Mariachi, now he is also doomed,” he said.
Ealier, Nantume had told trolling fans that “It’s your mother who got me deported.”
