Pomp and excitement engulfed Christians of South Ankole Diocese on Saturday as the outgoing Archbishop of the church of Uganda His Grace Stanley Ntagali touched ground in Ntungamo district on his farewell tour across the dioceses of the church of Uganda.
He was welcomed by the South Ankole diocesan bishop Rt. Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe who was escorted by the many church leaders including all archdeacons, heads of diocesan departments, mothers and fathers union heads among others.
He was moved through the town in a convoy led by over 200 motorcyclists from Umeme offices junction to the Kyamate where he conducted a prayer for the cyclists.
His Grace Ntagali flanked by his wife Beatrice Ntagali appealed to motorcyclists to first seek the Kingdom of God then others shall be added unto them.
He thanked the cyclists in Ntungamo for showing a difference to other boda bodas in the country.
He said he was overwhelmingly proud to be back again at the Diocese that he first visited when he was installed as the archbishop of the church of Uganda.
The Ntungamo District Woman Member of Parliament Beatrice Rwakimaari applauded the Archbishop for not bowing to pressure to accept the same sex marriages like other churches in Europe and America have done.
Rwakimaari noted that Ntagali will be remembered for standing firm to say that homosexuality is unchristian, and Church of Uganda will oppose it ‘until Jesus comes back’.
His Grace Ntagali has been on a countrywide tour of diocese ahead of his retirement scheduled for next year on March 2020 after clocking 65 years shall be exiting office in March 2020 following election of the new archbishop.
