Former presidential advisor, Joseph Tamale Mirundi has on Tuesday morning admitted that he is a ‘killer’ just like the mercenaries that have been hired to carry out some of the unresolved murders.
Mirundi, who was appearing on the popular Tuesday morning nbs TV show, ‘One on One with Tamale Mirundi’ urged anyone to ‘attack my family and see’.
He was answering a question by show host Bashir Kazibwe about the wave of killings that have engulfed the country.
In the past few weeks alone over 10 people including Joshua Nteyireho Ruhegyera, Tumukunde Merina, social worker Maria Nagirinya, and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa as well as a family of three in Lyantonde, have all been murder.
On Monday, police said they had arrested three men who are suspected to have participated in the murder of Nagirinya and Kitayimbwa by police and the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) operatives at Nateete, a Kampala City suburb where they have reportedly been hiding.
The trio include the suspect believed to be the man who was captured on police CCTV driving the deceased’s car.
But Tamale, who played several voice messages of alleged killers discussing a plan to kill Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, the State House Comptroller since 2010, added that he is in the know of a gang that works closely with security to carry out these heinous crimes.
In the yet to be verified voice note, the gangster says, “We have been to her (Nakyobe’s) office but just send us a photo so my marksmen can memorise it.”
When probed further by Kazibwe as to why he would make such a pronouncement on national TV, Mirundi just brushed off the question.
This is not the first time the former presidential aide has made a controversial statement on live television.
In May, Uganda Communications Commission’s (UCC) wrote to nbs management, saying says that the commission was appalled and takes strong exception to the conduct and language used by Mirundi while on air.
Then, Mirundi lost his cool while on air and attempted to get physical with the programme host Simon Muyanga Lutaaya, after he questioned him about copies of his purported lease application, seen earlier circulating on social media yet he is one of the critics of the lease promotion campaign.
On the programme, Mirundi angrily attacked Buganda Land Board (BLB) officials as well as kingdom officials over the ongoing campaign dubbed ‘Ekyaapa mu Ngalo’.
UCC is yet to respond.
