Two senior bosses of labour export firm MiddleEast Consultants have been remanded to Kigo Prison for human trafficking.
Benon Kunywana and Godfrey Kyalimpa were arrested on August 20, 2019 by the State House Anti-corruption unit on accounts of forging documents of the ministry of Gender and trying to traffic 50 people to the Middle East.
They appeared before the Entebbe Grade one magistrate Phiona Birungi.
Prosecution alleges that on February 12, 2019, both Kunywana and Kyalimpa, between Kampala and Entebbe international airport tried to traffick 50 people out of the country contrary to Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act 2009.
The managers are also charged with forgery of documents and signatures from the ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development contrary to Section 349 of the Penal Code.
Through their lawyer Ivan Wanume, the accused denied the charges and applied for bail. But Birungi, however, referred their bail application to September 11 when the case is expected to return to court for mention.
