Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has accused President Museveni and his government for the widespread land grabbing and evictions in Bunyoro sub region and other parts of the country.
Kyagulanyi, who was speaking at a campaign rally in Hoima Boma grounds where Ms Asinansi Kamanda Nyakato, the Forum for Democratic Change candidate for the Hoima woman parliamentary seat launched her campaigns also added that because of this (land grabbing) and other human rights violations, the current regime must step aside.
“We don’t want to fight with Museveni, not because we don’t have power – we are young and energetic we are cow boys and cow girls we can beat those people if we want – but we want to transform power peacefully,” Kyaguklanyi, who was flanked by his Mityana Municipality counterpart, Francis Zaake said.
“Museveni wants us to throw stones so that they fire bullets at us.”
The musician turned singer who is the leader of People Power political group, joined other opposition politicians who are in Hoima to bolster Ms Nyakato’s campaigns.
She is facing off with Harriet Businge Mugenyi, a supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement party.
Both candidates were nominated last week. Polling day is September 26.
President Yoweri Museveni is expected in Hoima to campaign for the NRM candidate on September 24. The Hoima woman MP seat fell vacant after Ms Tophace Kaahwa Byagira, opted to represent the newly-created Kikuube District that was carved out of Hoima District.
