It is extremely rare for celebs to talk about their usually murky background especially in regard to education.
Remember Spice Diana and how she told the world she scored 32 points in her Senior Six final exams and others before her?
Well singer/producer Andrew Ojambo aka Daddy Andre did not wait to suffer the same embarrassment and openly told whoever cared to listen that school was never his thing.
Famed for songs like Sikikukweka, By now, You and Me, Kukyokya among others, Daddy Andre opened up to NTV Mwasuze Mutya show host Jocylynne Nakibuule on Friday that even though his parents died when he was still young, school fees was never his problem. He just did not want to attend school.
“Even when you ask my siblings about my school report cards, none of them has ever seen one. I just went to school a few times when I wanted. I don’t even remember much about school. All I can say is that I was always very shabby and carefree,” he said.
Andre, who said he attended schools in Nsambya Barracks, also claimed that the only good thing he got out of school was learning how to speak English, but spent a lot of his time with singer Maro, who used to take him through vocal trainings.
“I started learning production on my brother’s computer. I did not go to any music production school but visited different studio and music producers such as Ronnie Da Don, Producer Jox and Maro to master the game,” he said.
The singer claimed that he choose to concentrate more on music than books because he knew that it will be a big source of income for him.
Singing and production aside, Andre is the brains behind songs like Nkwatako, John Rambo, Bamusakata all by Sheebah, Smart Wire by Vampino, Dangerous by Ceaserous, Kimala by Desire Luzinda among others.
