Just weeks after being cyber-bullied for carrying a metallic suitcase to Makerere University as a first-year student, Henry Ssuubi Kiyimba is currently enjoying every moment of his life.
What started as scorn when a one Emmanuel Aupal, posted a picture of Ssuubi on twitter, mocking the fresher for deceptively carrying what he described as a high school box, is day by day opening doors for him.
From meeting prominent figures in the country to receiving a scholarship to pursue his dream course in engineering, items like a laptop, clothes, a smartphone among others, and now the young man is now a known figure in the country.
However, though he is popular, Ssuubi is yet to find a girlfriend.
Appearing on NTV’s Mwasuze Mutya morning show on Friday, the 20 year old revealed that he is still single and that no girl has hinted on him despite his current appealing status.
“I am still single, no girl has expressed interest in me physically not even on my social media platforms,” he said.
Asked about how he feels after becoming popular, Ssuubi disclosed that he lives a normal life and that he cannot let the prevailing situation make him lose focus because he knows where he came from.
“I am not a celebrity but I am popular.By the way, I am not like other people who get famous and become proud to the extent that when you want something from them they refer you to their managers. Me I even give out selfies free of charge.”
He also advised young people who are undergoing difficulties, never to give up because they never know what may happen tomorrow.
“Some of his friends discouraged me, they told me to branch off and join a technical institution saying that I could not manage the life at University. But I kept on pushing and now I am here, God answered my prayers.”
