Over Shs 5.5m was collected in Mubende Rotary Cancer run on Sunday geared at raising funds to procure a Cancer Screening marching at St Francis Nsambya Mission Hospital.
The marathon attracted participants from different divides at one of Rotary’s commitment to the fight against Cancer in Uganda.
Mubende Municipal Member of Parliament Anthony Ssemmuli, the chief runner urged Ugandans to embrace this exercise, since its helping the participants to reduce on the causes of this killer disease and other non communicable diseases like diabetes and Leukemia.
He commended the Rotarians and Centenary Bank for championing the cause to purchase a radiotherapy machine.
Dr Obore Francis from Mubende Regional Referral Hospital emphasized the call to people to have regular medical visits to test their status, as cancer is proving a big health hazard in the country.
He said the only cure to cancer is early screening, as the number for international referrals is increasingly highly.
Mubende Chief Administrative Officer Lillian Kamatte who came number four has tasked all government departments to always have time for physicals and regularly participate in these exercise to fight the spread of non communicable diseases.
