A Centenary Bank employee has been arrested to aid investigations into the kidnap and murder of an eight year old boy.
Pascal Kisinde who is based in a Kampala branch of the bank is said to have promised Alex Asimwe,17, and Enos Taremwa, 16, Shs20million if they handed him a head of a ‘muhima’ boy.
Asimwe and Taremwa are both casual labourers in Ruhondwa Village, Kyakabunga parish Nyakashashara sub-county in Kiruhura district.
According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, the duo kidnapped Ronald Kangume 8 on July 31, 2019, from his home in Ruhondwa village, Kiruhura District. They then demanded for a ransom of Shs3.7billion to have him released or else they were to receive him dead.
The suspects were tracked down and arrested through their phones calls, Kasasira revealed this week.
They then led police to the decomposing body of the child which had been buried a few meters from his home.
“We have not ascertained that allegation of Kisinde hiring them but he has also been arrested and others to help in investigations,” said Kasasira.
“We are continuing to carry out investigations into the murder of Kangume and more suspects will be arrested. So far we have 11 in connection to the incident and these will be taken to Kampala for more interrogations.”
