Reigning Miss World Vanessa Ponce De Leon has arrived in the country ahead of the Miss Uganda Beauty Pageant finals due Friday July 26.
Twenty five contestants are vying for the 2019 crown.
Ponce arrived together with the Miss World team, headed by Julia Morley and will be in the country for a six-day visit.
According to Miss Uganda organizers recently, the team will first have a State visit at Entebbe, tour Uganda, engage in Beauty with a Purpose projects then later take part in the crowning of Quiin Abenakyo’s successor.
“Uganda is one of the countries in the world listed among the friendliest places to visit, so we look forward to welcoming the queen and the Miss World team to the Pearl of Africa,” Miss Uganda organizers stated.
Ponce was crowned Miss World 2018 at Sanya City Arena in China.
She beat Uganda’s Abenakyo and three other finalists to win the world title.
Abenakyo who won hearts of many across the world was crowned Miss World Africa as well as Miss World’s second runner-up in popular vote.
