Former beauty queen Stella Nantumbwe has threatened to sue media houses that claimed she got pregnant by a ‘certain pastor’ in town.
Recently, news broke the internet, alleging that Nantumbwe was expecting a baby with Prophet Elvis Mbonye, a senior Pastor with Zoe Ministries International.
The publications also claimed Mbonye had gifted her with a brand new Lexus SUV on her birthday last year.
But according to the court notice, Nantumbwe claimed that the said relationship and pregnancy are baseless allegations that were meant to damage her profession, character and reputation.
And through her lawyers, she pinned several publications such as Vision Group, Red Pepper, Galaxy FM, Chimp Media, Bigeye, Blizz.com, The Insider, bloggers and some social media users for defamation and invasion of privacy.
“In particular, these publications have alleged that our client Miss Nantumbwe is involved in a sexual relationship with a popular Kampala based Prophet, who purportedly gifted our client with a car and that our client returned the favor by becoming pregnant for the prophet,” reads the full page notice published in a local daily.
In the notice, lawyers noted that these allegations are baseless and unfounded publications that were made to portray to the public, and the whole world that Nantumbwe is an immoral and irresponsible person.
“The said publications have been persistently made over a period of time and are evidently intended to lower our client’s reputation in the eyes of the right thinking member of society and in particular, to cause our client to be regarded with feelings of hatred, contempt, ridicule, fear or dislike, public odium and if unchecked, have a continuous effect of causing irreparable injury to our client’s reputation.”
Lawyers also pinned the said publications for defamation, misuse of the internet, disturb of peace, quiet or right of privacy, and unprofessional journalism ethics.
They further warned the publications to cease all related statements about Nantumbwe, or a defamation of character law suit will be commenced against them.
“In addition, this shall serve as a pre-suit letter or notice demanding that any existing publication in any media line platform bearing allegations refuted by our client in this notice are removed or retracted in entirety within seven clear days form the date of publication of this notice.”
