Last week, House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) Senior Pastor, Aloysius Bugingo informed his followers that his wife Teddy Naluswa Bugingo sexually starved him for 10 years since she was suffering from fistula.
Bugingo added that during that time he stopped enjoying conjugal rights and resorted to buying cotton and pads for the sick wife.
“I have tried to always keep quiet to respect Teddy but she is playing the sympathy card too much. She says she has been with me for 29 years through thick and thin. But how come she doesn’t talk about her hemorrhage (fistula). My wife bled for 10 years. Every single day, I bought cotton since pads could no longer contain her flow. I didn’t have sex for those 10 years. I didn’t even cheat. How come I didn’t get another woman in those years? Surely people must know that if I were to leave, it would have been then. I have been patient, I have tried all my best to make this thing work. Let her stop claiming she is the one who tried her best.” He said.
Following his negative speech, activists on Monday came out and blasted the man of God for spilling his bedroom matters to the public.
The activists mostly comprised of women, marched to Parliament while holding placards, cotton and sanitary pads to present their petition to the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
While speaking to journalists on their way to Parliament, women blamed Bugingo for using his pulpit to preach hate instead of preaching Good news (gospel).
“Bugingo shame on you, even witch-doctors don’t behave like you, Shame on you for turning God’s church into a devil’s centre and a highway,” Jackie Nabwire a law don from Makerere University said.
Rachel Nanyonga a businesswoman in Kampala said that Bugingo’s apology was not satisfying and demand him to hold a press conference and apologise.
“We need him to come out and say I’m sorry, let him also accept that he is the trouble causer in all his family issues. He must also separate his family wrangles from the church,” she said.
Women also demanded all religious leaders from every religion to come out and condemn Bugingo’s act.
“We demand Balokole Pastors to come out and disassociate themselves from Bugingo’s evil and childish statements otherwise it’s very embarrassing for the ordinary people to fight against this, yet Pastors, Sheikhs and Reverend fathers have kept quiet as if it’s normal for a man of God to behave like a hooligan,” Hasafah Nantongo noted.
