Events promoter Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo Events has been granted a cash bail of Shs4 million by the Buganda Road Court Magistrate, Stella Amabirisi.
Through his lawyer Elias Lukwago, Bajjo presented Abby Musinguzi (Abtex), Aloysius Matovu Kizza and Moses Bigirwa as his sureties. Each was asked to pay a non-cash bond of Shs20million, but also ordered to deposit their National Identification cards until the case – in which Bajo is accused of threatening to over threatening to overthrow President Museveni – is done.
Bajjo was remanded to Luzira on grounds of offensive communication, inciting violence and misuse use of the internet.
According to prosecution, Bajjo released a video on social media in which he threatened to overthrow President Museveni before 2021 in a violent way.
Prosecution alleges that Bajjo during the month of June 2019 at various places including Masaka, Mbarara, Ibanda and Kampala, incited the public to do an act of violence against the person of the President by reasons of his political opinion.
The motor mouthed events promoter was arrested in June by a section of security operatives during a press briefing at Max Lounge, centenary Park.
According to Bobi Wine, Bajjo was in the final stages of organizing a marathon from which proceeds were to support youths in People Power.
He will be appearing in court again on July 25 for mention.
