President Museveni has taken his Wealth Creation Tour to Karamoja.
Museveni, also the national chairperson for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party will spend two days in the region. He is expected to meet local leaders in Moroto town today before commissioning a new bus terminal in Moroto on Wednesday at 11am.
On the same day, he is expected to hold a rally in Nakapiripirit before addresses the masses via radio from Morolinga State Lodge, Napak.
The President’s latest leg of the Tour – after visits Tooro, West Nile, Acholi, Bunyoro and Lango sub-regions – comes barely 24 hours after announcing that government is set to introduce another poverty alleviation programme to support development and wealth creation among Ugandans.
The new programme will be unveiled during the national budget reading session on Thursday, June 13, Museveni said during the 30th Heroes Day commemorations at Kasanje War Memorial Grounds, Wakiso District.
Several other poverty alleviation programmes that have been tried and tested include Youth Livelihood Program, Parish Community Associations, Women Empowerment Fund, and Operation Wealth Creation, among others.
Throughout all his tours, the President’s message has been the same – say no to poverty.
“My message is to mobilise people to wake up and say no to poverty at household level so that it is embraced by everyone. I have come here today to confirm what the youths and others do appreciate my countrywide campaign against poverty eradication at household level in the country. With this spirit and vigor, let’s take off in all aspects of creating a source of income for everyone,” he has previously said.
Recently, the President appointed a team of 46 people to coordinate the wealth creation campaign across the country.
