As pupils prepare to report for the 2019 second academic term on Monday 27 this month, Kijonjo Primary School in Buhara Sub County, Kabale District is struggling to raise over Shs200 million needed to renovate its dilapidated, dusty and leaking structures for a conducive learning environment.
The Church Of Uganda founded School was started in 1976 and has an enrollment of 243 pupils with 10 teachers of whom five are males as other five are females.
The school’s head teacher Julius Twinomugisha wonders where the learners shall study from saying even the two class rooms which were not leaking last term are also now leaking due to warn out iron sheets.
Twinomugisha also noted that all the class rooms are dusty with no windows and doors.
The Kabale district Secretary for health, education, sports and community based services Johnson Baguma also an Old Boy of the school said the district can only help them to roof new structures if the parents can cooperate with the school board to establish them.
He advised the school to hold a fundraising campaign so that the school’s old students, parents and well-wishers can contribute towards the needed Shs200 million renovation funds.
