Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Dr Kizza Besigye has sent a congratulatory message to Maj Gen (rtd) Mugisha Muntu following his successful registration of a new political party- Alliance for National Transformation (ANT).
In a letter dated May 20, 2019, the self proclaimed People’s Government President said as political stakeholders it’s important for them to do whatever they can from whatever political platform to urgently cause and consolidate a democratic transition that Uganda needs and deserves.
“This to convey to you our best wishes for a successful launch of the party into the arena of struggle that you, no doubt are familiar with,” said Dr Besigye.
“The ANT is being launched at a time when the repression of Human Rights [especially civic and political rights] in our country is assuming unprecedented levels.”
The four time presidential candidate also pledged to offer necessary support to the new party.
“As comrades in the struggle, we shall always be available to collaborate in the pursuit of that transition.”
ANT received a registration certificate on April 25 almost over six months after Muntu left FDC. The party is set to be launched on May 22, 2019.
