Uganda Premier League top scorer Juma Balinya is yet again a disappointed man after he failed to make the Cranes Afcon 2019 bound team.
Balinya earlier revealed his disappointment on failing to make the squad that played against Tanzania and will have to find the same courage to console himself yet again.
Balinya and KCCA youngster Allan Okello were part of the initial 19 local based players who were summoned by Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre to kick start preparations for Africa’s biggest show piece that will take place in June.
Desabre has named 11 players from the ongoing residential training camp at Kabira Country Club, who will be part of the 26 man squad to be announced on Tuesday May 21, ahead of the trip to Abu Dhabi in preparation for the Afcon Finals in Egypt.
Yeovil town defender Bevis Mugabi, India based Khalid Aucho, KCCA quartet of Timothy Awany, Allan Kyambadde, Saddam Juma and Kaddu Henry make the squad as are Vipers SC duo Tadeo Lwanga and Moses Waisswa plus the unattached duo of Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Godfrey Walusimbi.
However, all is not lost for Balinya as he together with goalkeepers Charles Lukwago and James Alitho, Allan Okello, Proline FC defender Mustafa Mujuzi and Vipers forward Dan ‘Muzeeyi Sserunkuuma have been named to join up with the Cosafa bound contingent.
The six players are expected to resume training today under the stewardship of Balinya’s coach at Police Abdallah Mubiru and his assistant Charles Livingstone Mbabazi who are handling the Cosafa team.
Meanwhile, three players Daniel Isiagi, Express FC left back Disan Galiwango and Vipers’ Halid Lwaliwa are not included on either squads despite being part of the AFCON squad.
The 11 players in Afcon Squad: Bevis Mugabi, Timothy Awany, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Godfrey Walusimbi, Isaac Muleme, Khalid Aucho, Taddeo Lwanga, Allan Kyambadde, Moses Waiswa, Ibrahim Sadam Juma, and Kaddu Henry
The six players to join Cosafa Squad: Charles Lukwago, James Alitho, Allan Okello, Juma Balinya, Mustafa Mujuzi and Daniel Sserunkuma.
