KIU Titans will look to bounce back from their recent slump in form when they face Falcons at YMCA, Wandegeya. Falcons, six time champions, will also need to start winning for their own sake having found life as hard on their return to top flight basketball.
Despite carrying ‘one of the favorites to win’ tag at the start of the season and then registering a convincing 106-75 win over Kampala University on the opening weekend, the Titans have since failed to win their next three games in a row. And they will need to put that losing streak to bed sooner if they are to make the playoffs.
Falcons, on the other hand looked like they will put up a good season but have looked off pace since game one. Four games into the season and they carry a relegation sticker already.
Falcons added Vinnie Jurua and Micheal Kojjo to their roster, but have looked timid especially on the offence. With only 156 points scored in three games; an average of 52 points per game is a testimony of how much Falcons lack on the offence.
Falcons should be wary of KIU’s turn over tactic as they have registered the highest number of points from turn overs. Infact Micheal Bunya and Oscar Kasujja do top the turn over charts.
However, despite looking impressive going forward, with Dennis Balungu and Micheal Bunya ranking highly with 62 and 60 points overall so far, the Titans are also porous in defence conceding 302 points the highest in the league.
KIU will need to win this one before their huge test against unbeaten JKL Dolphins men on Sunday.
Elsewhere, KCCA men will look to get over in-form Ndejje Angels in what will be an evenly matched tie while champions City Oilers will have bottom side Kampala University Eagles at their mercy.
In the ladies’ division, KCCA Leopards will play Nkumba Lady Marines while KIU Ranges face YMCA Lady Hamstars.
League action will resume on Sunday with UCU Canons facing City Oilers before Betway Power look to save their skins against Our Saviour. JKL Lady Dolphins will play Angels while KIU Rangers will face off with A1 Challenge in the lady’s division. All games will be played at YMCA Wandegeya.
